oracle 10g database migration
Hi Exprts,
we migrated a database in terabytes in size in Oracle 10 g using data pump
it took 10 hrs for export and 46 hrs to import
i am sure this is not the efficient method
can you please suggest wat possiblities there to improve the export/import to happen fast for such huge sized databases

Oracle Migration 9 to 11g grants missing
a user get
the ‘table or view does not exist’ error after migration from Oracle 9 to 11g
- even though in the DD I can see owner grants select on the tables to
role -> role is granted to the user (only grants direct to user are
working fine)

MS SQL Server to Oracle Applications

Data Source – MS SQL database –
Data is to be summarized by transaction type; needs to provide parameter for transactions dates to be extracted.[o:p][/o:p]
Data to be loaded initially to STG table and then to GL journal interface table and concurrent request to load in GL.

Need a plan for migrating from Oracle 10gR2 to Oracle 11g
Planning a migration from Oracle 10gR2 to Oracle 11g. Below are the specifications, what should I consider before starting a plan? Any experience in this – advice greatly appreciated.
Conditions to meet during migration:
1) Currently Our Production Database 10gR2 is on Solaris server. (Server- N3000).
2) And now we are migrating to Oracle 11g on solaris server. (Server- N5000).
3) Our Database is running on 24X7 basis, The Applications running on this database is Prepaid Card Processing.
4) We have total 14 Application schemas in our database, In that 4 schemas need dynamic syncing with new 11g database.
5) In these 4 schemas we have around 120 tables. We need dynamic syncing for these tables.
6) And the load impact on the database is less in between 9:30pm and 12:00am and 6am to 9am.
7) Our database has about 41/2 million transactions per day, and we generate about 500 archived redo log files per day.
9) The important thing is we can’t put any impact or load on the redolog files.
10) One more Important thing is we dont have any test databases.
10) The client is looking for database downtime is in between (20 to 30) mins.
10) This Production database doen’t have the Disaster Recovery.
11) And we are taking storage(SAN Based) backups.

Oracle DECODE and SSMA
Does the SSMA or SQL Server Migration Assistant actually have a custom DECODE function that can be used in SQL Server? I’ve installed SSMA and can’t find that function in the sysdb database. I assumed there was such a function based on a blog posting made by Kevin Kline. If there is a function in SSMA could you give me its name and perhpas an example of how it is used? Now I think he was just saying that the SSMA will convert what you have into CASE statements. Anyway, if you know if there is a decode function in SSMA, please let me know. Thanks.
